In order to conform to the current BDJO PLI Policy & Schedule All members must comply with the Code of Practice set out below & agreed by the organisations committee.
It is the responsibility of the member when setting up their equipment to comply with the current health and safety regulations in force at the venue they are working in.
All equipment used in the performance must carry a current Portable Appliance Test Certificate (PAT) Test.
In accordance with the PLI policy schedule you must not employ any Pyrotechnics, Foam, Bubble or Snow Making Machines in your performance unless you can show separate certification and qualification to use such equipment.
To comply with the Public Liability Policy Schedule you may not leave any assistant you employ to operate the equipment on their own unless the have a PLI certificate either with BDJO or another company.
All of the equipment used in your performance must be “Deemed Fit For The Purpose” and designed for the use it was intended
(No DIY Discos). You must not use any equipment that was never intended for stage, theatre or disco use.
Lighting and speaker tripods including any trussing used in your performance must not exceed the designated weight limit set by the manufacturer.
When working at an open-air venue you must employ staging or a Curtain Trailer fit for the purpose or alternatively some form of awning to protect the electrical equipment being employed.
Also when providing the entertainment at an open-air event you must keep all equipment, cables speaker or otherwise within the limits of your designated area. If you are unable to keep certain equipment & cables etc within your working area, then these cables must be clearly marked by Black & Yellow Hazard Tape accompanied by the appropriate public warning notice.
Where electric supply cable is concerned the shortest path must be considered. If it is the case that the cables cross public access then a ramp to protect the cable must be used.
When using a smoke machine in your performance use only patented smoke fluid, Never install the smoke machine at head height, always install at well above this level or at ground level and at least One Metre from public access.
In Light of a recent court judgment regarding the supervision of Bouncing Castles etc, you must always employ a suitably qualified attendant to oversee the safe operation of the apparatus at all times.
By signing this code of practice and by ticking any of the boxes in the regional section of the application form, you are agreeing to both the conditions of the Code of Practice and the inclusion of your details in the “Book A D.J.” section.
